Tune Room Workshops

Beginner Fiddle w/ Tim Chaisson
This class is designed for those who have a little bit of beginner knowledge of the fiddle already (how to hold the fiddle and bow, can play a beginner tune). We’ll learn a beginner Celtic tune, work on ear training exercises, and takeaway techniques that will catapult us (with practice ;)) into the next level of Celtic fiddle playing!

Folk Choir w/ Lucy Farrell
Lucy will be leading a community Choir! Learn a traditional song from the British Isles, with emphasis on community, singing together and effortless harmony. All Welcome!

2:30pm – 3:45pm

Trad Guitar Accompaniment w/ Jake Charron
Learn to accompany a fiddle tune in Drop- D tuning! This workshop will focus on chords and voicing in Drop- D, and some useful strumming patterns. All skill levels welcome!

Intermediate Fiddle w/ Pascal Miousse
In this class you’ll get a taste of Magdalen Islands fiddle, learning tunes and technique from Vishten’s, Pascal Miousse!

4:00pm – 5:15pm

Acadian Step + Foot Percussion w/ Emmanuelle Leblanc
The PEI Acadian style of step dancing is very lively and percussive! In this workshop, you will learn a basic step routine, as well as Acadian foot percussion (podorythmie or danse assise) – a sitting down dance that accompanies fiddle music or is danced on its own.

Advanced Fiddle w/ Tim Chaisson
This class is for the advanced player, who feels comfortable with learning tunes “by ear” at a medium tempo. We’ll be working on bowing patterns, embellishments and a bit of “jamming” (at a medium – full tempo) with guitar accompaniment.
