Nathalie and Isabelle Arsenault

Sisters Isabelle and Nathalie Arsenault grew up in a large musical family, the Jos Bibienne, as they are known in the Évangéline region of PEI. Although they grew up in the Charlottetown area, they have fond memories of family gatherings in the Acadian region where their Dad and his numerous brothers and sisters would fill up a room jamming into the night.

Their first instrument was their feet, shaped by the rhythms and percussive nature of step dancing. During their formative years, they danced professionally, taking part in competitions, earning recognition on stages across the island, and performing with prominent artists, both as a duo and as members of Les Étoiles du Carrefour. In recent years, they’ve had the opportunity to share this work with wider audiences, including offering workshops and performances internationally at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient.

Isabelle and Nathalie’s connection to step dancing has deepened. They’re returning to it not just as performers, but as a way of listening to and expressing their roots. Through rhythm and movement, they share stories that feel both personal and ancestral. Their style blends improvisation, strong syncopation, and a contagious joie de vivre, creating a space that feels as much about connection as it does about performance.
