Mary Beth Carty specialises in guiding absolute beginners onto the dance floor for ungendered, all-ages, extreme amounts of fun! Fascinated with square dance formations from a young age when her parents took her to Scottish Country Dance parties, Mary Beth comes from a family of musical cousins in Lanark, Antigonish County. In her 20s, while living in Québec, Mary Beth soaked up some of the tricks of the dance-calling pros like Normand Legault and Pierre Chartrand. For the last two years, she has been touring Nova Scotia with Front Porch Square Dances, reviving the activity throughout the province, bringing the Antigonish Guysborough County five-figure dance back to the floor. She is convinced that square dancing is the most fun that a human being can have on the planet earth. Mary Beth will be directing the dancers while strumming guitar, joined by Brad Reid on fiddle and Bradley Murphy on piano.
